Description voncloft 2016-09-22 00:44:32 UTC
I will get a sms text, the notification popup will appear - the "Reply" button appears however when I click it nothing happens.

The button disappears and I am unable to respond from the desktop.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. send text message to self on phone
2. get notification on desktop with - reply prompt
3. click it - nothing happens

Actual Results:
nothing, the button disappears and no textbox is given to respond

Expected Results:
Once respond button is clicked in notification popup some way to communicate to the message should be given.

I use Gentoo, I have set the use flag of telepathy to active in the package use.
I run plasma 5 kde and the app on the phone for kde 5 is version 1.4

found a typo - the app on the phone for kdeconnect is 1.4
Comment 2 Albert Vaca Cintora 2016-09-22 06:08:20 UTC
Which kdeconnect version do you have installed on Gentoo? Also, try disabling the telepathy integration.
Comment 3 voncloft 2016-09-22 09:26:05 UTC
version 1.0.1 for kdeconnect....i thought telepathy had to be enabled to work with sms.
I will try that when I get home from work today.

I have the same problem, and filed another bug like this one (I don't know why, but I did not find this bug when I searched).

I don't understand : What has Telepathy to do with kdeconnect ? What do you mean with "disabling the telepathy integration", and how do you do that ?

Thank you

Similar issue. Unable to respond to SMS messages. Able to press reply button once then it disappears without any opportunity for input.
Comment 6 Piotr Mierzwinski 2017-01-18 18:19:41 UTC
I also confirm. Sending SMS doesn't work using GUI - nothing happened after click "Send". Sending SMS works only with cli version (kdeconnect-cli).

Additionally in reply window I can see only 24 last characters of SMS what I want to reply.

Used software:
kdeconnect 1.0.3 (Plasma)
Qt-5.7.1, KF-5.30, Plasma 5.8.5
Up-to-dated Antergos.

kde connect 1.5 (Android)
Android 5.1.1

And about truncated message. I noticed that it happens when in SMS are placed emoticons. Otherwise I can see whole message.

Hello,

I can confirm the same things I have seen below, with a few differences.

*IF* the screen on my phone (Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, Android 7.0) is unlocked *AND* I have the messaging app showing on the home screen, I see the text messages and emoticons sent to me and the have a "Reply" button. These appear in a small circle in the system tray area with a number in it, which I think denotes the number of messages. However, opening this and clicking the "Reply" button causes the notification to just sit there with the "Reply" button gone. There is no way to reply. I have to click the red "X" in the top-right corner to close it.

*IF* the phone-screen is locked I get a notification in the KDE Connect system tray icon, but cannot reply. No "Reply" button shows up. I can only acknowledge the notification by clicking the red "X" after it. This same behavior occurs *IF* the screen is unlocked and and another application on the phone has focus.

Operating System: openSuse LEAP 42.2
KDE Connect Version: 1.0.3-14.1 (OpenSuse Build Service KDE:Extra Repo)
Plasma 5.8.6-7.1

Thanks for your work!!!

Tim

It was maybe à problème with activités ?? I still have it. The notification appears on Every activity, but when I click on the reply Button, the reply Windows appears on only one activity. If it is on the currently usés activity, then no problem, but when it's not on the currently activity you may miss it, ans thi

SOrry, tried to answer on android, and french T9 has destroy all my words :)

So I was meaning that the reply Button is working fine. The problem (at least for me), is that when using more than one activities, the Reply window may appear on the non current activity.
I noticed it some weeks ago, I was wondering why sometime when I click, the reply button appeared, and why in some other cases, the reply button was like inoperative.

But now I know. When I click the reply button, and don't see the reply window, I switch to another activity, and there I find it :)

So yes it's a bug, it still has to be resolved.

Your bug 370289 is still open, it might be a different issue as reported here.
Comment 18 mathojojo 2017-08-02 14:31:44 UTC
Ok, I posted a new comment on my other bug. You are true, it may be another bug, or not. The most important thing is that a ticket is still open for this weird behaviour.

Thank you
