Description mathojojo 2016-10-08 10:14:38 UTC
Hello

OS : KDE-Neon (not really Kubuntu, but Neon-kde is not proposed in the describing list)
Kernel : 4.8
Plasma : 5.8
System : AMD Phenom II 1090T with 8Go RAM, AMD/ATI Radeon HD 7700/7800 series

Android smartphone : OnePLus 3 (android 6.0.1 / OxygenOS 3.2.6)
kdeconnect version : 1.4.4
Kdeconnect autorisations in Android : Contacts / SMS / Storage / Phone

When I receive a SMS, kdeconnect shows a notification, with a Reply Button. But when I press it, nothing happens.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Receive SMS
2. When the notification appear, click the "Reply" Button
3. Nothing happens. I don't see any field where I can write the reply, and a button to send it..

Actual Results:
I can't reply to SMS

Expected Results:
When I click on the Reply Button, I think a field should appear so I can write the response, and send it.

This is the most important feature for me in kdeconnect... SO I set this bug as Major.

In Fact, it looks like the Reply button works. But the problem is that the reply window doesn't popup at the current activity. I noticed it recently.

When I clicked on the Reply button, nothing happened. But later when I switched to my other activity, I noticed that the reply window popuped there.

So, the bug is more on the place where the window appears, not on the button itself.

I think, the reply button should always popup on the currently used activity (or at least, it should be the default behaviour, if modifiable).

Thank you

I too have this problem. I've checked the other activities but have not found a Reply dialogue on any of them.

The Reply button has never done anything for me. I'm using KDE Neon User edition.

I think this applies to me as well. I'm curious whether the other reporters have tried this particular test as I describe below.

After some experimentation, here's what currently happens:

If I click the reply button in the notification right away, nothing happens, as reported above.

But, if I let the notification fade out, then click the notifier icon in the tray to make it show the notification again, and then click the reply button shown there, then I can reply.

I have the same issue with one caveat -- the reply dialog did show up and everything worked great for a few replies. It then stopped working (randomly, I believe):
I have checked other activities (not there) and hit reply on notification or wait to hit reply from notification list applet.

Guys, do you have Telegram Desktop running while you try to hit "Reply"?
Because I did and hit this bug: https://github.com/telegramdesktop/tdesktop/issues/1026 when clicking on kdeconnect notification.

I've also experienced this, but with a twist: when I first experimented with SMS reply, it worked as expected, but now it no longer does. The "Reply" option shows up, but when I click on it, nothing happens. I'm also unable to access the SMS option in the KDE Connect Indicator dropdown. I installed the KDE Connect dependency tree after successfully replying, so I'm wondering if something in that process impacted the SMS function?

I'm running Ubuntu 18.04 with a Motorola Moto G4 phone. KDE Connect version is 1.3.0-0ubuntu1 on the desktop and 1.8.4 on the phone.

SMS List and history is displayed, when trying to answer a SMS the text disappears after the send button is pressed. No SMS send

I found a workaround:
Using the kdeconnect sms app does NOT work, sms not send, send button stays gray.
Replying in the popup notification does NOT work.

What works is:
Ignoring the popup notification after getting a sms, and then click on the KDEconnect system tray icon, click on the reply logo(logo only shows up after the 5 seconds popup notification). This opens the "Messaging - KDE Connect Deamon" witch is a different program than the KDEconnect SMS app from the main menu. Messages can be send, but reply don't show up, in the kdeconnect deamon, but they show up for 5 seconds as notification, and if that's not enough time, it still can be read by opening the KDEconnect notification area.

Yes, I have the same problem. I don't know if it's related to some other app that interacts with notifications, but the Notifications integration used to be seamless. In fact, when I dismissed the phone notifications, the notification would disappear in Ubuntu. I'm waiting for a solution please! I do love the app! I use Ubuntu-Budgie with a Android phone (Nokia 7.2)
