Thanks for your feature request. I don't see how anything changed compared to your request from 3 years ago and I think that my analysis from then is still correct.

Your argument doesn't change the fact that I use Present windows for one desktop and desktop grid for all desktops.
I use desktop grid to move applications from one desktop to the other. For a switch from one desktop to the other I use keyboard shortcut (not active corner).

Can you easily recognize what applications and even what windows are there (because two applications: Dolphin and Anki have double windows)?

This should never be marked as resolved just because you want to use desktop effects in a different way.
Besides Icons will not don't change in any way the way people use desktop effects, it can only make it easier to recognize applications.

It is not resolved just because you don't see a problem here. You you don't want to do it I will wait until you stop work for KDE and report it again. But you don't have the right to mark it as resolved.

I'm sorry, that we won't implement it as you wish. Unfortunately we have to do the decisions and mark the reports accordingly. Otherwise our bug tracker becomes unmanagable for us.

For your actual problem: I urged the community several times to rewrite PresentWindows and DesktopGrid, see for example: https://blog.martin-graesslin.com/blog/2013/04/hitting-walls-a-story-of-present-windows-2/

The approach presented in this blog post would most likely also address your wish. For the existing code base this won't be implemented, though. I'm sorry.

I read it but my idea doesn't change anything in functionality and doesn't require to rewrite everything in terms of what function does what. I only want icons. And my request is justifiable as seen on screenshot. There are only two desktops there. Everyone can imagine or check that nothing would be recognizable on four desktops.

My request has nothing to do with how users use present windows and desktop grid because their functionality is different. Present windows cannot be used to drag windows from one screen to another.

!!!
Why in Present windows icons are justified and in Desktop grid are not justified? When clearly icons have nothing to do with effects but are only about easier way to recognize which window represent which application.

My idea has nothing against your idea abut merging effects but your idea from what I understand is not against my idea (especially when you cannot implement your idea).

I think you wrongly assume that I use Desktop grid for switching windows. No I don't. I use Desktop grid to drag windows from one screen to another. Icons will only make it easier for me.

I'm sorry, but neither Desktop Grid nor Present Windows won't see any implementation changes any more without the rewrite I talk about. It just won't happen. The code base is too fragile to be extended - even for something which looks as minor as adding icons. I cannot justify breakage with a visual change. Won't happen.
