VNC connection to KDE5 is not possible Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Start KRFB 2. Connect from other PC (VNC) 3. Look at KDE5 boot picture...nothing else. Actual Results: It shows only KDE5 boot picture, although KDE5 runs e.g. for 6 days. Expected Results: To work properly. Ubuntu 16.04, 64bit, intel video card
I have the same problem: kubuntu 16.04 plasma 5.5.5 kenrel 4.4.0-23-generic qt 5.5.1 but I see a frozen desktop image several hours ago
I also have the problem. I can move the mouse, but nothing else works. For example the remote person sees my mouse moving, but if I for example click the clock at the right bottom, on my screen nothing happens. On the remote screen the calendar pops up. I tried then another vnc server on the remote side, then it worked.
I also confirm that if I run the server with x11vnc the remote session works all right
With Kubuntu 15.04 and 15.10 it was possible for a remote client to attach to an existing desktop session using Krfb's "Unattended Access" and xrdp. With the update to Kubuntu 16.04, there are no screen updates on the client after login when using Krfb. The client only sees a static "snapshot" of the desktop from ~3 hours ago. krfb 4:15.12.3-0ubuntu1 plasma-desktop 4:5.6.4-0ubuntu1~ubuntu16.04~ppa3 Is there an easy way to gather Krfb logs?
This is a duplicate of Bug 218557 and Bug 356782 There is workaround posted by Alexey: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=356782#c6 With this workaround krfb should work correctly and you can connect to VNC even with active desktop effects. Edit ~/.config/krfbrc ... and add the following lines: [FrameBuffer] preferredFrameBufferPlugin=qt
