Description DrSlony 2016-03-01 16:50:35 UTC
The "Labels Filter" panel requires too much horizontal space. As a result, the whole right panel needs to be that wide.
In this screenshot, the right panel is as narrow as possible before the horizontal scrollbar appears:

Simply splitting the first row into two rows would solve it.

Reproducible: Always

What size you have set for the small icon size in the KDE settings? After the screenshot it should be 22, default is 16. When the screen has a very high resolution, I would find the icon size 22 and thus the width of the sidebar acceptable.

Small icons set to 16 http://i.imgur.com/HlK3Oc5.png
Everything else looks fine, looks right, except that the right panel needs to be made too wide to facilitate this row of icons. If you split that row into two rows, it solves the problem.
These icons have huge padding, maybe that's the problem? http://i.imgur.com/VeLYlqD.png

The screenshot shows my sidebar in the narrowest dimension. I never see a scrollbar, font size or icon size have no effect. You have the Breeze theme and the Breeze Icons. What do you use for a font and the font size?

Your font, compared to mine, is huge. That could be why keeping the right panel that wide makes sense on your end.

I won't have time to test for the next few weeks. Ditto for the other issues.
Furthermore, I stopped compiling my own digiKam from master for dependency reasons, and my distro does not ship pre-release versions, so I can only test when 5.4.0 is released.

With Appimage you don't need to compile anything. All is already done. Just download the bundle file and run it as well. It fast and easy to test...

digiKam 7.0.0 stable release is now published:

We need a fresh feedback on this file using this version.
