The setup is as follows: Laptop t420 with external hdmi monitor, both showing desktop folder Trying to add a new panel (a second one) to the second/hdmi monitor (idea is to have the laptop monitor/lid closed and i want a second aplication-kicker and taskmanager on monitor2) All new panels (the 'default' or 'empty' panel) always land on the laptop screen, there is no way of moving it to the second screen And, playing around with the panel, plasma continuously crashes after removing the 'unwanted' panel on the laptop screen. Reproducible: Always
>All new panels (the 'default' or 'empty' panel) always land on the laptop screen, there is no way of moving it to the second screen Click on screen edge and drag to the other screen. >And, playing around with the panel, plasma continuously crashes after removing the 'unwanted' panel on the laptop screen. That's hopefully fixed wtih 5.5.3
Well, that's what i did (i also checked with kde 4 on the same type of laptop - in kde4 no problem moving panels between screens/displays) But, in kde5 you cannot move cross-displays... Sorry
maybe there is a problem with different screen resolutions? The laptop has 1600x900, the second display 1280x1024?
I have the same problem. When you try to drag to the second screen the panel return to the first screen. I could reproduce the problem with 5.5.3
In Fedora 23 (plasma-desktop 5.5.5), moving between screens currently isn't working - you can click and drag on Screen Edge, but it won't cross monitors. In earlier versions (see bug #354015 ) that was reported as being possible, but crash-prone. I'll also note that this particular system seems to be affected by the bug where Plasma sometimes loses track of which panels belong on which monitor: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=356225#c65
