At startup, the networkmanager is not present in system tray, an empty space is shown instead. Clicking on the empty space leads to no result, so it's not a image issue. To restore the networkmanager widget, I have to go into system tray configuration, where the network indicator is active, turn it off, apply, turn it on again and apply again. This only lasts until next login.
