Description Pascal d'Hermilly 2015-11-19 21:15:10 UTC
The horizontal scrollbar is one of the least attractive things about dolphin - it just sticks out.
You could get rid of it if you make the places entries that are wider than the width of the panel end with "...".
It looks like dolphin used to do it (although with some alignment problems): http://www.tuxarena.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/dolphin.png
OS X finder and Nautilus also use this approach:

Reproducible: Always

See bug 325017.

Thanks Christoph. Do you know why it was changed? Perhaps because of the alignment problems that are apparent on the tuxarena screenshot.

Kate actually has a quite nice implementation for their file list (at least in kde 4.13).

Was the places panel in the file dialog merged with dolphin's places panel in kde workspace 5?
I see that the file dialog in KDE 4.13 still has the '...' behaviour with alignment issues.

@Christoph What do you think about the Kate implementation?
Do you think it could work for Dolphin?
