I cannot drag the whole window by clicking and dragging a free area of the Places Panel. There is scrollbar at the bottom which I think clutters the interface. People can just drag the side of the Places Panel to see the full name if they want, I think the scrollbar at the bottom clutters the interface, and will very rarely used (in which cases the side of the Places Panel could be dragged).

I think the Text 'Places' and 'Devices' clutters the interface with text (even though it does make clearer what the items are). Could there be an option to remove these to replicate behavior of previous versions ?

Reproducible: Always

Note that the scroll bar is removed is removed if you make the Places Panel sufficiently wide to show all text. Yes, I know that the former Places Panel just showed "..." and no scroll bar if the text was too long to show it, and one could argue that some people do prefer this. However, this is the first complaint that I see after more than one year.

I think that we will not make any considerable changes in Dolphin's Places Panel in 4.x any more. I hope that there will be a chance to have a new Places Panel that is shared with the "File" dialog and that has additional features in the frameworks era.

Sorry, there cannot be an option for this. We get lots of requests for new options all the time, and if only a tiny fraction of them was implemented, the application would quickly turn into an unusable and unmaintainable mess. Therefore, there should be a big demand for a new option before we even consider to implement it, which is obviously not the case here (this is the first request after more than one year).

Thanks, I cannot drag the window by pressing down on an empty area of the Places Panel even with the scrollbar gone since all the text is visible by moving the right hand side of the panel.

Also, I moved the right hand side of the Places Panel so that all the text was visible and the scrollbar disappeared, however it seems to need some extra whitespace as well for the scrollbar to disappear. Could it be possible not to need this whitespace?

I tested it on my system, there were some few margin pixels, but nothing I would call "extra whitespace". Margins are required so that the text does not look cut when it fills the selection rectangle. The selection rectangle itself has a margin inside its panel view, so that it does not touch the borders. If you see more whitespace, please add a screen shot of the panel, with the longest item selected, resized to its smallest size not causing scrollbars to appear.
