Description Steven Roose 2015-11-16 23:53:00 UTC
I noticed Kmix was not running after a system reboot. I tried running it from the terminal and I got the following error message more than 20 times per second:

QSystemTrayIcon::setVisible: No Icon set

After about a minute, it crashes because CPU and memory are overflowing.

I also reported my crash report here:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1281560

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Run kmix in terminal

Actual Results:
Continuous error messages and crash after about a minute.

Expected Results:
Kmix starts

I had a lot of updates accumulated because I don't often reboot (eventually rebooted because of dead battery), so a lot of things were updated at once after the reboot, like Plasma (so it seems).

I don't have sound now...

Possibly related to this bug: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=344879

I have the same issue after the latest update on Fedora 22 KDE desktop. Actually non of my FN-Keys work at the moment, i.e. I cannot adjust the volume or screen brightness.

I started with trying to get kmix running, but I have the identical problem.

I most recently tried to fix a problem with another program that needed an older version of libpng. I am not sure if this is related to this problem.
Comment 3 Steven Roose 2015-11-18 17:21:45 UTC
It seems to be fixed now (got a new load of kf5-* updates). However, kmix still crashes at startup as it is not present after reboot.

But if I manually start it, it works.

The same holds for the power management module.

I still got an error message after first time starting kmix that did not make it crash, but I accidentally closed the window and the error is not there when run a second time, so I will leave this bug open and report the error next reboot.

I updated my operating system to Fedora 23 and no longer have any issues!

I think this bug is related: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=353062

I am currently experiencing this in Arch Linux, using AwesomeWM with kmix and klipper. I don't think this is platform dependent.

Reported for old version. Please confirm if still a problem with current KMix and Plasma.
