This bug exists since many many many, actually too many years. I do not know ANY other application in which saving by CTRL-S closes the window... Why does kmail2 need this "feature"? Please fix this or make it configurable! According to my searchs, there are at least 2 bugs which got closed without a working fix: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=33953 https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=32305 Reproducible: Always
This request seems to make sense
This bug has never been confirmed for a Kontact version that is based on KDE Frameworks, except possibly a Technology Preview version 5.0.x. Those versions differ significantly from the old 4.x series. Therefore, I plan to close it in around two or three months. In the meantime, it is set to WAITINGFORINFO to give reporters the opportunity to check if it is still valid. As soon as someone confirms it for a recent version (at least 5.1, ideally even more recent), I'll gladly reopen it. Please understand that we lack the manpower to triage bugs reported for versions almost two years beyond their end of life.
I confirm this is still happening to me in Kmail under up-to-date KDE neon User Edition (KDE applications 17.04.2, and KF5 5.35)
Thanks for the update; setting version.
Yes, still the same on a recent version of kmail :( Kmail V5.2.3 KDE Frameworks 5.31.0 Qt 5.7.1 (kompiliert gegen 5.7.1)

Save it as draft (CTRL+S) OBSERVED RESULT The message is saved and closed. EXPECTED RESULT The message is saved but still open. I can choose later to close it or continue the edition.
