Description Bhushan Shah 2015-10-05 15:48:20 UTC
1) Put two icons in horizontal line with some empty space in between them
2) Select them and drag so one of them is out of view
3) One icon is placed randomly, or at least it might be some pattern but I am missing it

4) Do same by putting icons in vertical line
5) Those icons are not moved by drag which is IMO correct behavior

Reproducible: Always

Second icon is returning to the layout default position when dragging icons horizontally past the screen edge, both icons are returning to their previous positions when dragging icons vertically past the screen edge in:

Distribution: KDE neon Developer Edition - Unstable Branches
Plasma: 5.11.90
Frameworks: 5.42.0
Qt: 5.9.3
Kernel 4.10.0-42-generic

Horizontal scrollbar for desktop view is created when dragging icons horizontally past the screen edge, second icon appears a little bit to the right and near the bottom of the screen when dragging icons vertically past the screen edge in:

Netrunner Rolling
Plasma: 5.11.4
Apps: 17.08.3
Frameworks: 5.40.0
Qt: 5.9.3
Kernel: 4.14.3-1-MANJARO

Yeah this behavior is pretty predictivle, but maybe not ideal. FWIW what Windows does is place the out-of-view icons along the edge you've dragged the group into.
