When I draw rectangle to select items and release mouse button the rectangle does not disappear. This happens only if mouse button was released while moving.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. in folder view widget press left mouse button and hold it
2. drag mouse
3. release it while dragging

Actual Results:  
The rectangle didn't disappear

Expected Results:  
The rectangle should have disappeared

Could you record a video? (e.g. using vokoscreen) That might greatly help understand what's going on.

Irregularly disappearing selection frame (20s)

I'm having the same issue since Kubuntu 15.04.
I have the layout of my desktop set to folder view, such that it shows my home directory.

The selection frame does not disappear irregularly. Doesn't matter if the selection is empty or not.

I can reproduce this behavior. My system is Arch Llinux, kernel 4.2.5-1 x86_64, and my videocard is Intel Haswell (on an Acer C720 chromebook): 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Haswell-ULT Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 09).

I have Plasma 5.4.3, KDE applications 15.08.3 and KDE frameworks 15.16. I have also attached screenshot - in my case I am using folder view for the desktop and if I stop pressing the left mouse button while I'm dragging the selection rectangle it stays. If I first stop dragging the selection rectangle and then stopp pressing the left mouse button the problem doesn't appear.

I am writing to confirm that this bug is still present in Plasma 5.5. I can reproduce it OpenGL 2 and 3.1 but can't with Xrender.
