Description Stefan Hamminga 2015-09-04 14:45:20 UTC
Google allows setting multiple groups for a specific contact, which is pretty handy. Upon adding my Google account the groups are imported as expected, but then in the global contacts list each contact that is part of a group is displayed an additional time for each group.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Add Google contact to a group
2. Add Google contacts to KAddressBook
3. See main list of contacts

Actual Results:
Duplicate contacts when they really aren't duplicates.

Expected Results:
Each contact from a specific account shown once.

This bug has never been confirmed for a Kontact version that is based on KDE Frameworks, except possibly a Technology Preview version 5.0.x. Those versions differ significantly from the old 4.x series. Therefore, I plan to close it in around two or three months. In the meantime, it is set to WAITINGFORINFO to give reporters the opportunity to check if it is still valid. As soon as someone confirms it for a recent version (at least 5.1, ideally even more recent), I'll gladly reopen it.

Please understand that we lack the manpower to triage bugs reported for versions almost two years beyond their end of life.

Still there. In the latest KDE applications bundle 17.04.2 (Arch repo) aka. KAddressbook 5.5.2.

Hi Justin, thanks for following up! I moved away from Google contacts years ago so I'm not able to confirm if this bug is still present.

Hi Justin, thanks for heads up. I cannot provide further information for this bug at the moment either.

I have not used Google Contacts with Kaddress book for a long time. I just tried to add the resource but did not success.

These are the steps I followed,
- In Contacts of Kontact, right click and select Add address Book,
- Select Google groupware, then complete the authentication in web browser,
- Back to Kontact, no address book was added.

Brief searching shows that it may be caused by bug https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=446580.
