Description Unknown 2015-08-24 21:06:16 UTC
I save the desired layout I'd wanted, but when I close and re-open Kdenlive, it goes back to some kind of default layout, with the sizes and positions far different than what I'd saved.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Change the Kdenlive layout to meet your needs
2. Save the layout by selecting View>Save Layout As>...
3. Close Kdenlive and re-open

Actual Results:
Kdenlive loads either a default layout, or isn't saving my layout properly.

Expected Results:
Kdenlive to start up with the exact same layout I'd saved and closed it with.

Running Kdenlive 15.08 on Kubuntu 15.04 w/ KDE Plasma 5.3.2 via backports PPA.

I cannot reproduce the problem. Could you try to move the Kdenlive config file :
$HOME/.config/kdenliverc

For example, move it to $HOME, and restart Kdenlive. It will create a new config file. Does the bug still occur with that new config file ?

After doing this test, you can close Kdenlive and move the config file in its original place again so you don't lose your settings.

Same as https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=343322?

I can confirm this bug all way back to Kdenlive 15.04.1.

"Not loading layout" may not have been the appropriate terminology. It could possibly be that it's not loading the window/module/widget sizes & positions correctly as before. I moved the config file like you requested, JB, and re-ran Kdenlive. The issue happened again. I recorded a video example and uploaded to YouTube: https://youtu.be/nAG4bFEdwuQ.

I've also confirmed this issue on a fresh install of 15.09.0 as well on Kubuntu 15.10 x64 beta.
Comment 5 Wegwerf 2015-10-04 16:30:41 UTC
I can confirm this bug on a fresh(!) install of Kubuntu 15.04 and Kdenlive directly compiled from sources (git/master). This installation has never seen a packaged Kdenlive. Yet it is unable to automatically restore the layout when started. So this bug is still in even the recent master.
Comment 6 Unknown 2015-11-26 20:53:43 UTC
I updated the bug name to Kdenlive version 15.11.80, as I just confirmed this bug is still present in this development build.
Comment 7 Wegwerf 2015-11-29 16:15:36 UTC
I was able to narrow in on this bug: on my fresh installation on Kubuntu 15.10 from Git source Kdenlive 15.11.80 only forgets its last set layout when its window is maximized. In contrast, if I manually resize Kdenlive's window to occupy the whole workplace but without maximizing it then Kdenlive properly remembers and restores its layout setup.

Maybe that's the reason why the developers could not always reproduce this issue...?

Confirmed on new install of Kubuntu 15.10, Kdenlive 15.08.1

I save my layout in Layout 1 and shut down and reopen. And the original (default) layout is loaded. I can manually load Layout 1 and it gives me the settings I have saved.

Where can I set Layout 1 to be the default layout?
Comment 9 Wegwerf 2015-12-22 19:42:39 UTC
Still present, and is reproducible related to whether Kdenlive's window is maximized or not. Non-maximized window's pane layout is restored properly. Maximized window's pane layout does not get restored.

I can also confirm that this is still present, running Ubuntu 15.10 x64 w/ Unity 7.3.2.
Comment 11 Unknown 2015-12-23 21:55:54 UTC
Also can confirm what wegwerf said. It's only when it's maximized.
Comment 12 Unknown 2016-03-08 21:21:49 UTC
I can confirm this issue is still present in Kdenlive 15.13.0 git master development branch, Kubuntu 15.10 x64 w/ KDE Plasma 5.5.4 & KDE Frameworks 5.18.0.
Comment 13 Unknown 2016-03-30 16:53:28 UTC
This issue is still present in the latest git master build from Kdenlive-master ppa for Ubuntu.
Comment 14 Unknown 2016-07-12 18:11:54 UTC
This issue seems to be fixed in the latest git master build. Sending this to the mailing list to confirm that others are experiencing the same result. If so, I'll be very happy to resolve this bug! :)
Comment 15 Wegwerf 2016-07-13 17:29:33 UTC
Looks fine for me too! :)
Comment 16 Unknown 2016-07-15 23:08:05 UTC
Strange, I'm still experiencing it on one of my machines. I cleared all the Kdenlive temp stuff, but problem remains. Hmm...
