Description dadapotok 2015-08-16 20:16:06 UTC
It would be awesome to close selection as easy as in the other apps!

My suggestions:
1 Esc
2 Clicking Deselect Button showing cross on the selection. Button can appear after you make selection, or sit there with other buttons all the time.
3 Clicking with Selection Tool outside the canvas

New button(s ) also should work with selection tool improvements suggested suggested here:
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=349948

Reproducible: Always

you can assign 'Esc' as shortcut for deselect in the configure shortcuts section.

1 Esc now works, thank you
It took a some time until I found Configure Shortcuts Section. I just get used to mac os interface so much: for the last 9 years every option and every settings menu was sitting down in the same place for every application ) That place was the menu bar right under the name of the application.

In Krita the Preferences also sits there, and user can configure quite a few shortcuts up there but there are also the Settings menu, which is quite confusing, because Settings and Preferences always seemed to me quite the same thing. Settings is ninth in a row, one of 11 items in the menu bar. Why not to keep all UI settings in the same place?

2 UI improvement
sorry for duplicating, I posted this few minutes ago to this topic
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=349948
but

Question or Feature Suggest

Are there any option or modifier key or shortcut key to show and configure hotkeys and comment for any UI tool on mouseover? That would make learining such things 500% faster!

(started thinking about such thing after trying to use Blender - the most powerful and the most tangled FOSS ever existed: you can weave worlds if you can comprehend how to rotate view)

Krita on mac is highly experimental and no full fledged bug fixing has gone on mac. It is strictly not for production purpose. Having said that we don't want to discourage users from bug reporting under osx, it is just that you shouldn't use it for production purpose.

There are plans to do osx improvement in future.

Since this line smoothness and tablet pressure sensitivity comparison

I switched to Sketchbook. But Krita gave me a such creative boost! I was never such hooked up by drawing digitally. Krita Sketch Tools line, especially such tools as Sketch_line, and Sketch_shade_wash are something that one can build his style on and rely on the daily basis, really amazing instruments. I was warned about Krita on mac status on the download page, I just enjoyed the app, the new experience it brings and wished to get involved little bit )

Sorry, the report mixes up too many unrelated things.
