Description Manson Mamaril 2015-07-06 05:56:56 UTC
I don't know if this feature exists but...

A suggestion based on one of the tools I liked the most in gimp... It's selection tool is 2-in-1... a polygon and a free-hand... also please add the ability to erase or undo a (I don't know if this is the right term for it) waypoint of a selection... b'cuz I'm human I make mistakes... this is also why I avoid using it even though I know it will greatly increase productivity in my part... sure there a workaround like deselecting them later but it's distracting me from the fun part of drawing...

also create shortcuts as:
clicking -> create selection
shift+clicking -> combine selection
alt+clicking -> subtract selection
ctrl+clicking -> intersect selection

that resembles that of gimp or photoshop...

Please consider... :)

Reproducible: Always

+1 to this feature suggestion

The shortcuts are done now, thanks to a patch by Michael Abrahams.

While selection with polygon selection you can undo the selection points by pressing shift+z

The ability to add, subtract ,replace and intersect a selection by holding the modifier keys like Alt, ctrl and shift has already been implemented.

you can find the old bug report here
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=315255
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=348234

In addition to the modifiers you can also set the mode of the selection by pressing
'A' - for adding
'S' - for subtract
'R' - for replace selection.

If you wanted something else please add more details to bug report

Thanks for the answer.
Which version is patched with shortcuts? I use 2.9.6 and there are no Check for Updates option anywhere.
for now in version 2.9.6 on mac os x:
already works with any selection tool:
shift+clicking OR a -> combine selection
alt+clicking OR s -> subtract selection
ctrl+clicking -> intersect selection

R won't work for anything

shift+z works for removing selection only with Rectangular and Ellipse Selection Tools.
it won't work with Lasso, Polygonal, Contiguous or Bezier Selection Tools.

Question or Feature Suggest

Are there any option or modifier key or shortcut key to show and configure hotkeys and comment for any UI tool on mouseover? That would make learining such things 500% faster!

(started thinking about such thing after trying to use Blender - the most powerful and the most tangled FOSS ever existed: you can weave worlds if you can comprehend how to rotate view)

You can configure almost all the shortcuts in configure shotcuts dialog box.
you can access it from Settings > configure shortcuts.

When you have activated add or subtract mode for selection, by pressing 'A' or 'S' respectively or by clicking on the relevant option in the tool options docker,
you can change the mode to replace by pressing 'R' once.

Shift+ Z ( a way to undo last selection point) only works in polygon selection tool.

I am closing this bug report as the selection modifiers are already present.
