I request a quick way to group existing layers. Currently if a user wants to put certain layer(s) in a group he has to create a group layer then drag and drop the required layer(s) in that group. This becomes cumbersome if we have lots of layers. 

Hence the ability to select several required layer(s) at once and then put the layer(s) in a new group automatically with the help of a right-click menu  or shortcut will help. The functionality can be same as merge selected layers but instead of merging this creates a new group and puts the selected layer(s) in that group. It can be a menu item in layer menu and right click menu.

User should also be able to assign shortcut for this action, a generic shortcut for this would be CTRL+G if it is not assigned to anything else, I request to make this shortcut default.
