Description Silvo 2015-03-14 07:04:02 UTC
Gwenview is no longer able to show any remote content. For example: clicking jpg-image in the Dolphin, Gwenview opens but no image is shown. When chosen "home" -> network, dialog showing message "Address can not be listed remote:/" appears and no any network resources are shown. The Gwenview version is 5.0.0 pre and my system is Linux (x86_64) release 3.16.7.8-1-MANJARO. The problem is identical in my two Manjaro computers.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open Gwenview
2. Click "home"
3. Click "network"

Actual Results:
No network content is shown. Dialog "Address can not be listed remote:/" appears.

Expected Results:
Network resources should be browseable and remote content (images) should be shown.

With local files the Gwenview works just right. All the other software (media players etc.) handles network resources right.

Based on solution I found for https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=343997 , maybe you could try installing kio-extras, just in case.

01---2x gwenview icon after installation-cannot start it.png

Hello Jose,

Sorry, I first forgot to put the pictures on !

 I tried with kio-extras.

There is no change generally, you see some icons of gwenview instead of only one, see the screen shoots. I still cannot
work (open any file) with the program GWENVIEW.

with best regards
Siegfried

This is happening when Gwenview is installed on a system using GNOME or a GNOME-based Desktop Environment (like Ubuntu's former Unity). On those systems, remote files are mounted locally at /Media using GVFS. In theory no special handling should be required for this use case; the Samba share should appear to be just another local path--totally transparent to the application. Need to investigate.

Fixed along with the fix for Bug 344146.
