Description dklais 2014-10-08 11:30:18 UTC
I installed samba, checked I then had the SHARE option in Dolphin with right click. I shared a folder so that a network scanner could send scanned files to that folder. I configured the machine so it could find the folder. It worked.

The problem: close and open Dolphin again, and the folder is no longer a shared folder.

I'm no expert in Linux and I'm new to KDE, but I would love to get this fixed since it's the only thing I haven't managed to get fixed and I need it for my job.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install samba, check if SHARE option in Dolphin with right click is there.
2. Share a folder in Dolphin with right click - Properties.
3. Close Dolphin.
4. Open Dolphin: the folder is not a shared folder anymore.

Actual Results:
The shared folder does not stay shared.

Expected Results:
I guess it's really easy to solve; either I'm too inexperienced to set up samba the right way, or I'm overlooking some important and obvious step. I don't know.

Thanks for the bug report!

As far as I see, saving and restoring shares isn't implemented in KIO/KSambaShare

What folder are/were you trying to share? If it was your whole home directory, that that's tracked with https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=381301

No response; assuming it was the home folder since the symptoms match those of Bug 381301.
