The icons in kate's filebrowser have a fixed tiny size (16?). In systemsettings have set the overall "small icons" size to 32 as minimum icons size because I have difficulties dealing with smaller icons. Kate's filebrowser ignores this setting. Can you please, for the sake of accessibility, let the filebrowser respect the "small icons" size or add an own module to let the user choose the icon size? That doesn't only make the folder icons better recognizable, it also increases the space between the file name lines which makes themt easier to read and hit. Reproducible: Always
Does Ctrl+Wheel work? I cannot test, because I use a stylus.
Oh. Yes. Ctrl-Wheel does work. Not so obvious... Thanks for the hint. Alas it does not save the size, I have to resize the icons every time I start kate.
Are you able to test a patch for kdelibs? Actually, the size should get saved, but is probably not correctly applied on restore. To test, please check: - exit Kate - use KWrite to load ".kde/share/config/katerc", find section "[Plugin:katefilebrowserplugin:MainWindow:0:dir]" - check values for "detailedViewIconSize" and "listViewIconSize" - exit KWrite, start Kate, change icon size - repeat from first step, and check if values are indeed changed Note that the values are not pixel sizes, but zoom percentages: 0 = 16 px 100 = 128 px

This bug is not about icons in the panel, but about those in the icon view. See e.g. in Kate's directory sidebar.
