There is no display when editing in the molecular editor. Established molecules in /usr/share/kde4/apps/kalzium/data/molecules do not display either. Using Ubuntu 14.04 Desktop (32-bit)
Does standalone Avogadro work?
Created attachment 88389 [details] avogadro_initialization.txt Hi Christoph, I installed avogadro on the Ubuntu 14.04 LTS Desktop computer and its editor appears to be working and displaying normally. I was able to create a molecule from the start and I was able to load an existing saved .cml molecule. I've attached 'avogadro_initialization.txt' which is a copy of what appeared as avogadro started from the command line--reporting what it could. I then retried running Kalzium but I couldn't get the molecular editor portion of Kalzium to work at displaying anything. However, apparently the editor was able to report statistics for the molecule I tried to load showing its formula and molecular weight...but no image. So it's trying to use the XML-like .cml page for the molecule at least. [ethane.cml indicated C2H6 and a M.W. of 30.069 u.] I've also attached 'kalzium_initialization.txt' which is a copy of what appeared as kalzium started from the command line--reporting what it could. Hopefully it sheds some clues on what the issue might be with Kalzium. I hope this helps.
