- What I was doing when the application crashed:

updating photo tags with digikam sorted by tags. I erased several empty tag categories, i selected another tag (on the right side menu) and waited while the "no active process" bar moved back and forth, then seleted another tag that I knew was populated with pictures. 
I'm playing musice from Amarok - from a samba mount where the uid's do not match - at the same time.
The Asus PC1215n laptop is on power, and the a vga monitor (1920x1080) is connected. I'm using the Nvidia ion proprietary drivers on a new install of kubuntu 14.04.

The crash can be reproduced sometimes.
