Description JR 2014-05-06 16:57:10 UTC
Hi!

I am using krfb and krdc over VPN thru the internet. It's awesome, because it works out of the box :D ! Only the KDE desktop effects are usually enabled and produce much traffic. So i thought i ask for a feature request for an option to disable these effects automatically, when starting krfb or at least, when somebody connects to the server.

Some hints for that for the preferences of krfb:
-) automatically disable desktop effects, when a client connects
-) blacking the background
-) maybe (if it's possible) no fade in's for dialogs..

Many thanks in advance :)

Reproducible: Always

Expected Results:
turning of desktop effects and blacking the background.

KDE is/are awesome.

Hey guys and ladies!

In times like these, where no administrator wants to run to the clients, is there no need for such a feature?

According to bug 54699, the background was already disabled in 2003.

i just tried it again with two kubuntu 14.04 LTS installations. neither there is a option to disable the background in krfb nor it is disabled automatically.

Is there a hidden option?

@Filipus Klutiero: is there a way back for this feature? It would be really awesome!

JR: I'm far from being knowledgeable about KDE development, but I fail to see how there wouldn't be.

I know there are so much things to do for kde 5 and the new plasma things, but it looks like there are maintainers of krfb here listening too and I think it is something like a core feature of krfb. It is something that teamviewer/citrix/etc. can do in windows world too.
