Description Murz 2014-03-19 09:04:25 UTC
Muon Updater at now shows only updated version of package, but very often users want to know how much is version difference (updated major or minor version number).
So please add information about current installed package version in muon updater. This can be easily solved via adding column "Current version" in table with list of updates.

Reproducible: Always

You can get that information in the Descriptions. I really don't think this should go to the general view. It would add noise and confusion.

I'd also like to add that for more advanced information requirements muon package manager may be more suitable, muon-updater is very much intended to not be cluttered with too much information.

In screenshot http://imgur.com/qf7YIdP - where I can see current version of installed package? I see only list of updates, but not see current version of package.

Here is another example: http://wstaw.org/m/2014/03/19/plasma-desktopdv1675.png
I have installed firefox package version 27.0.1+build1-0ubuntu0.13.10.1
and updated version is 28.0+build2-0ubuntu0.13.10.1

In changelog I see only info about 28 version, not any string with 27 versions.

And nowhere in Muon Updater interface I can found that current package version is 27.

If you don't want to add column in table (we can add this optionally and hidden by default, users will can hide-show this column), please add line "Current version: xxx" in description block, before changelog.

Use muon package manager please.

In muon package manager I can't see in one screen current version and version (for quick compare) in updates for all package too: http://i.imgur.com/uPlsYgn.png

For understand how much is version difference and is here any major updates, I must manually select each package one-by-one, and with second click - select "Technical details" tab, after this - scroll down for see version difference for separate package.

So I must use console command for understand how much is version difference in updated packages, is this major update or minor, bug fixing update:
# aptitude full-upgrade -V

At now I can't find any GUI tool that can be replacement for this console command, because I want always see how much is version difference and inspect all major updates, skip minor updates.

If you don't want to add this into Muon Updater, maybe you can fix this problem in future versions of Muon Package Manager?

I move this bug to
