Somehow, my home directory has ended up in the Trashcan, and I can't get it out. I can still see the home directory normally, so it is both at it's normal place AND in the Trashcan. Just for fun, I tried what would happen if I emptied the Trash (after making a backup), and sure enough, all my documents were wiped out. Then I restored the backup and there it was again: the home directory at it's normal place AND in the Trashcan. I have now removed the Trashcan from the desktop, and I'm sure I will never use it again. From now on, I will delete files from the command line. I just want to warn others that this can happen.
