Can you please check which KDE kcm package you have installed for grub support?

*** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 319947 ***
Comment 3 Konstantinos Smanis 2013-10-06 23:22:44 UTC
I made the assumption this is about kcm_grub2 (the only KCModule shipped by Ubuntu with the ability to create GRUB splash images) and version 0.5.8 (as shipped by Saucy Salamander).

The fix has been released in the 'master' branch of Git and will be soon released in a new version. Custom made packages will be made available.

The fix for this bug has been released in v0.6.4 [1]. All affected users should consider updating.
