Pre-4.11 taskbar widgets offered the possibility to group/ungroup window entries with a middle-click, which was a boon on machines with limited screen size. Please consider bringing it back. Reproducible: Always
This would be extremely easy to add with the new Plasma 5.7 Task Manager backend; reassigning to new product.
Essentially, this would call requestToggleGrouping on the task, right? Should we add this as (yet another) option for "what to do on middle click"?
Patch https://phabricator.kde.org/D5065 (wow, "extremely easy" was a huge understatement, as you can tell from the time this and the previous comment were posted *g*)
Git commit 2fcd8547c3617dba583973fcf5cb6b9ae6877525 by Kai Uwe Broulik. Committed on 20/03/2017 at 11:36. Pushed by broulik into branch 'master'. [Task Manager] Add option to toggle grouping on middle click This adds an option for what to do on middle click which will toggle grouping of window of a specific application. This can already be done in the context menu by (un)checking "Allow this program to be grouped" in "Advanced" but this adds a nice shortcut for this. In contrast to said context menu entry the option in the ComboBox is shown regardless of the grouping mode as otherwise it might unintentionally change your setting to a (seemingly) non-deterministic value if you disable grouping.
