I have a RTM plasmoid running as part of my panel, which works well, provided that my laptop has a network connection. However there is a severe problem when there os no network connection available. In that case any attempt to log in to my linux account hangs, apparently just before the panel ought to appear. The hang lasts for > 30 minutes with no timeout, and a root console login shows that the "plasma-desktop" process is spinning at 100% CPU. I (eventually) discovered that the hang can be removed and network-less login works without delay if I edit ${HOME}/.kde4/share/config/plasma-desktop-appletsrc and delete the stanza which invokes "plasma_applet_rtm". Could this be related to https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=317769 Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Add RTM plasmoid to panel, Authenticate with valid RTM account and see to-do list. 2. Log out of KDE 3. Attempt graphical (KDM) log in again. 4. Kill X server or startkde process from a virtual console login. 5. Edit ${HOME}/.kde4/share/config/plasma-desktop-appletsrc and delete "rtm" stanza 6. Attempt graphical (KDM) log in agin. Actual Results: Step 3 should hang until X server killed Step 6 ought to succeed. Expected Results: Step 3 ought not to hang. O/S Mageia 3 KDE 4.10.2 Arch x86_64

Hello! This bug report was filed for KDE Plasma 4, which reached end-of-support status in August 2015. KDE Plasma 5's desktop shell has been almost completely rewritten for better performance and usability, so it is likely that this bug is already resolved in Plasma 5. Accordingly, we hope you understand why we must close this bug report. If the issue described here is still present in KDE Plasma 5.12 or later, please feel free to open a new ticket in the "plasmashell" product after reading https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved/Bug_Reporting If you would like to get involved in KDE's bug triaging effort so that future mass bug closes like this are less likely, please read https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved#Bug_Triaging Thanks for your understanding!
