Description Friedrich W. H. Kossebau 2013-07-15 07:49:08 UTC
When adding a file attachment to a bug, it would be nice if ODT/ODP/ODS/ODG files would not be just "auto"-detected as application/octet-stream, but instead with their real mimetypes.

Let's support the open formats better, if we can.

Anything I could do to help with this?

Reproducible: Always

That seemed to be autodetected fine - could this be https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox/+bug/84880 perhaps?

Hm. Now it does. Strange. Did not when I attached it for https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=322377, had to set the right mimetype manually afterwards.

Was using Konqueror with WebKit part.
Comment 5 Jekyll Wu 2013-07-15 08:31:22 UTC
With bugzilla 4.2.x, the mime type detection is done by the web browser. Bugzilla 4.4 makes it possible for the server to also do the detection.

See https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=209041
Comment 6 Ben Cooksley 2013-07-15 08:49:27 UTC
In this case it is likely that Konqueror (at least with Webkit, and possibly KHTML as well) is defective for mime-type detection then. Not much we can do then until we upgrade Bugzilla I guess.
