If I insert a cd where the cddb info is in non-English characters, amarok displays ?s instead of the correct UTF8 characters. If I view the cd in k3b the information is displayed correctly. So a cd with a performer of Рейнгольд Морицевич Глиэр is displayed as lots of ?s I decided to enter this one having seen https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=320373 is there a connection? (as a side comment - it would be good if for tracks which are read only data, eg cd data, if the characters in the view track details were selectable with the mouse - in order to paste them elsewhere! I assume that TextSelectable is turned off) locale gives me LANG=en_GB.UTF-8 LANGUAGE=en_GB:en LC_CTYPE="en_GB.UTF-8" LC_NUMERIC="en_GB.UTF-8" LC_TIME="en_GB.UTF-8" LC_COLLATE="en_GB.UTF-8" LC_MONETARY="en_GB.UTF-8" LC_MESSAGES="en_GB.UTF-8" LC_PAPER="en_GB.UTF-8" LC_NAME="en_GB.UTF-8" LC_ADDRESS="en_GB.UTF-8" LC_TELEPHONE="en_GB.UTF-8" LC_MEASUREMENT="en_GB.UTF-8" LC_IDENTIFICATION="en_GB.UTF-8" LC_ALL= Reproducible: Always
That is very strange, I have a few Russian CDs, and those do display correctly here, my system is in UTF-8 as well. Could be this is already fixed in the upcoming 2.8
Even stranger: I definitely have one Russian CD that only shows ???? for the artist name. The whole encoding of that CD is strange, though, as the tracks are in latin characters.
In my example the tracks are also latin, I assumed it was pulled off cddb
I right now have no testing means here, how is the status of this bug with current git?
I'm still seeing the issue with that cd (Rheinhold Gliere is I assume the performer) for a build of 23rd July - I don't think there are any related fixes since then? I have to reboot this machine to get it to see a cd, so one test per reboot (udisk bug 1281110)!
And this looks to be a duplicate of https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=210101 ?
Indeed, it is a duplicate *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 210101 ***
