Description Huw 2013-04-09 22:36:20 UTC
When I send an email from Kmail (and Kontact) via my IMAP account, the email is not stored in the sent folder on the remote server.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Send email via IMAP account
2. Log into remote server via web interface and check sent folder
Actual Results:
Email shows in <server>/sent folder in Kmail, but not in the actual sent folder at the remote server. Emails send from the same account from other devices do show up here so the issue cannot be with my server.

Expected Results:
Sent emails should show in sent folder at server.

configure your imap identity we can specify sent folder.
Regards

Please reopen!
If I understand the original problem right, the "sent" folder _is_ correctly specified, but the messages aren't uploaded to the server.

I do have this problem as well (with just one of my IMAP accounts). It happens with messages that have flags set which the IMAP server doesn't support (f.e. $SENT, which is bad in this case as kmail/akonadi sets this for sent messages).
Those messages only get stored in the akonadi database and are never uploaded to the server (because the server rejects them, I guess)

This is related with bug 291332, I would say.

Oh, and there's also bug 281853, witch could be regarded as duplicate of this, I guess...
Comment 4 Huw 2013-04-10 19:38:18 UTC
Wolfgang is correct, I have specified the sent folder on the remote server in my identity. I have tested my setup thoroughly. The messages simply aren't being sent to the mail host. Please reopen this bug report.

I can confirm this bug (Kmail 4.10.5), probably related to: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=291332

Good news!
After compiling kdepim-runtime with this patch, it is working for me even on the mentioned IMAP account:
https://projects.kde.org/projects/kde/kdepim-runtime/repository/revisions/c561149538336804f212f5a12ea6cf3d1a3a19f5

This didn't make it into 4.11.2 because it was a few hours too late, but it should be fixed then in 4.11.3.(In reply to comment #2)

I'm currently having this problem with all my email accounts.
Am I overseeing something?
