Description Dotan Cohen 2012-06-26 12:51:54 UTC
Please add a way to see which tags an image has from within the View Image screen. An overlay along the bottom (like the current overlay along the top) would be nice.

Note that resolved bug #94512 mentions this feature in a subrequest to that bug.

By "View Image Screen", do you mean SlideShow ?

Comment 3 Dotan Cohen 2012-06-26 13:45:01 UTC
No, I mean the screen that one goes to when clicking on a Thumbnail. In the View menu this screen is called View Image in my version of Digikam (2.5.0).

You mean Preview right ? No Image Editor ?

Yes, Preview.

I see that bug 251891 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. That bug requests rating, not tags.
Comment 8 caulier.gilles 2012-06-26 14:56:24 UTC
Labels is generic term to design Tag, Rating, and Color Flags.

Please... It would be sooo nice to be able to see ratings and flags on the preview.

The toolbarish row of icons in the top right is very odd. Navigation is already in the ui (in the statusbar), rotate items really belongs in the toolbar, and why are the face items there - those too belongs in the toolbar.

A good thing about toolbars is that they can be edited, btw - the user can decide what is important. I never use ANY og the icons poluting the preview in my workflow, albeit some probably do :)

A toolbar could be made transperant, have an item with the ratings/flags, and be placed or hidden by the user. Hm, a tempting junior job maybe?

What I think of here, is a toolbar for the preview area, to be specific, replacing the hardcoded row of icons.

+1 I use the preview for categorizing Images. It would be great to see ratings and color labels as overview on the preview.

I tend to add/modify metadata whenever I search through my albums - i.e. quite randomly when I have time for "house cleaning".

It would be helpful if we can list various types of metadata in Image Preview (my choice: GPS icon, tags, title, comments) - just to see what metadata exists already.

I know that I can list "already assigned tags" in the side bar, but that is too slow - I have to switch views (Captions/Description, Caption/Tags) and activate the "show already assigned" tags whenever I assign another tag. Or I can switch to Thumbnail View (but not all tags fit there anyway.
