Description Christoph Bartoschek 2012-05-01 22:05:04 UTC
Several albums consist of more than one CD and each CD has its own name. For example Michael Jackson: HIStory: Past, Present and Future, Book I. It consists of CD 1 (HIStory Begins) and CD 2 (HIStory Continues). Currently it is not possible to map this to the tags offered by amarok.

It is also the case that lots of classical album are collections of serveral works that one would like to tag appropriately, for example the Beethoven symphonies conducted by von Karajan.

Reproducible: Always

Us the comments tag? Which tag in the specification would this be? The MCDI or the CD label tag?
Comment 2 Christoph Bartoschek 2012-05-02 07:16:11 UTC
I do not know about any tag specifications. This is a feature request to basically add one level between the album name and the tracks. Therefore using comment does not help.

To compare it with books amarok currently supports: Book - Chapter

But it would be better if it also could support: Book - Part - Chapter
Comment 3 Christoph Bartoschek 2012-05-03 13:22:23 UTC
idv2.3 knows the following tags that are appropriate for such a feature:

TIT1
The 'Content group description' frame is used if the sound belongs to a larger category of sounds/music. For example, classical music is often sorted in different musical sections (e.g. "Piano Concerto", "Weather - Hurricane").
TIT2
The 'Title/Songname/Content description' frame is the actual name of the piece (e.g. "Adagio", "Hurricane Donna").
TIT3
The 'Subtitle/Description refinement' frame is used for information directly related to the contents title (e.g. "Op. 16" or "Performed live at Wembley").

Heh, there's actually an equivalent 18-year old feature request that predates this 14-year old, so closing this one as duplicate.
