screenshot of symptoms

I experience the same behavour with kde 4.8.1, qt 4.8.1 on gentoo since I've used kde4 with Plasma.
Weird clicking behaviour is always included (like the symptons in bug 251851).

No matter, what I tried, I couldn't come up with a scenario, where the sympons vanishes.
Maybe it's important to know, that the picture you see in my attached screenshot doesn't change with closing and reopening the hidden systray icons (for example the corrupted text "Current Date" next to the Skype-icon stays _exactly_ as it is).

Adding test case for reproducibility since my report was marked as duplicate:

If the height of the expanded system tray (the area where the hidden icons are kept) is greater than the one of the hidden plasmoid's minimumHeight, the plasmoid expands inside the systray.

This can be workarounded by raising the minimumHeight. There is likely a similar effect on vertical panel (but I didn't test).

100% reproducible, marking as CONFIRMED.
Comment 7 Luca Beltrame 2013-01-22 06:43:30 UTC
This can be easily tested with the Apper plasmoid or the printer manager applet: add them to the system tray, set them as hidden, then set all the other icons as hidden: when opening the system tray, the plasmoid will be expanded inside.
Comment 8 Ryan Rix 2013-01-22 06:47:32 UTC
Hi Luca,

I marked ours as duplicates because this one is the oldest and I assumed that the Plasma developers would dig in to the other two bug reports. Either way, thanks for porting your data over :)

can someone test this again with a kdelibs build after the commit http://commits.kde.org/kdelibs/e3dfb97d2e11d78164e9b04f4019bdf3a1fdaf21

I just tried with the Apper plasmoid and the print manager, and I'm no longer
seeing this issue here. I will double-check on another machine in a few hours
to confirm.

Tested on another machine, the problem is gone as well.

I had this issue with apper-plasmoid (see screenshot) but it is fixed now with kdelibs master. Can this commit be merged into 4.10?

It's already in 4.10.

Seems not fixed. At least there are a couple of duplicates for 4.10

This bug is not fixed. I can see it in KDE 4.12/13 in Debian Testing. It happens mostly to notifications widget.
