Some activity name have been deleted after a crash

Often when I start my computer (1 time out of 2/3) kactivitimanagerd crash (segmentation fault) and delete the name of some of my activity, or even all of them (see attachement)
Restarting the computer do nothing, or solve it partly, or solve it totally depending on I don't know what

In the attachement, you see that some activity name that have been deleted after a crash

Some more informations, I have noticed that
It happend when and ONLY when the AC cable is plugged in by start up ( I have a netbook)

Deleting activites icon happens on all activity where I have defined an icon that is no a system icon (either an own svg or a "other" symbol)

Deleting activities names can happen on any kind of activity

Hi, judging by bug 295721 you are using Kubuntu. If so, debugging packages are those that end in -dbg, see for instance

http://packages.ubuntu.com/oneiric/libsoprano-dbg

adding those should provide better backtraces.

My guess with the activity manager issue is that it dies trying to query for the resources because resources are being indexed when you have you are plugged to AC power. I have been trying to track this bug for a while but with your input and a couple of testings I've done on my own, it looks like this is the cause so I'll dig into this.

Sorry, that it produce only when pluged on AC WAS ACTUALLY WRONG... :(
Explanation:
2 weeks ago Muon fully destroyed my system, also I reinstalled everything the whole Kubuntu system
Now I still have the same problem, but I just managed to reproduce it even when launching on battery with the indexing service that is off...

It is really weird. It does not happen by each launches, and I can't find a reason that systematically reproduce it.. :(

About debug packet :
Okay but what is the debug packet relevant for this bug? I mean Dr.Konqi does not find it itself and when searching in the package manager, I don't have anything for kactivitimanagerd
Comment 9 David E. Narvaez 2012-04-06 10:59:29 UTC
Try kde-runtime-dbg. For future reference, you can find the right package to install by seaching contents of packages. E.g., check the following link

http://packages.ubuntu.com/search?searchon=contents&keywords=kactivitymanagerd&mode=exactfilename&suite=oneiric&arch=any

Please let us know if you can update the backtrace, and also please try on most recent version (latest release is 4.8.2 from this week).

Thanks!

Hello! Plasma 4 was replaced by Plasma 5 four years ago by the KDE community. In that time we have made great strides in stability and functionality. We are closing all Plasma 4 bugs as most of them are no longer applicable to the new frameworks Plasma 5 is built upon. If you could, please re-test with the latest version of Plasma 5, and submit a new bug to "plasmashell" if you continue to have an issue. Thank you!
