Same behaviour here.
KDE 4.8.4 from Debian Sid amd64.
Comment 2 apache 2012-07-02 16:42:59 UTC
The same on Kubuntu 12.04 KDE 4.8.4
Neither clicking nor drug and drop works. It affects all group types not only "grid group".

The same on Kubuntu 12.04 KDE 4.9 Beta 2. I may add a new grouping panel, but cannot add any group. Neither clicking, nor drag and drop works.

What about KDE 4.9.0 or 4.9.1?
Comment 5 Roman Paholík 2012-09-07 14:00:55 UTC
The same at KDE 4.9.0 / Kubuntu 12.04
Comment 6 S. Burmeister 2012-09-08 10:42:23 UTC
Obviously this component is unmaintained ans should be removed ASAP.
Comment 7 apache 2012-09-08 18:14:01 UTC
I can also confirm that on 4.9.0 / Kubuntu 12.10 it doesn't work. I devided grouping panel with column and started adding widgets but all widgets were placed in the same place/area. Other grouping options don't work at all.

If it is unmaintained ineed there is no point in fixing this bug. Anyone tried contacting the author?

But on the other hand being able to devide panel into two raws/columns would be useful, but bug

should be fixed first, I think.

I confirm this bug with Ubuntu 13.04, KDE 4.10.3

Confirmed on Gentoo, KDE 4.10.5

Hello!

This bug report was filed for KDE Plasma 4, which reached end-of-support status in August 2015. KDE Plasma 5's desktop shell has been almost completely rewritten for better performance and usability, so it is likely that this bug is already resolved in Plasma 5.

Accordingly, we hope you understand why we must close this bug report. If the issue described here is still present in KDE Plasma 5.12 or later, please feel free to open a new ticket in the "plasmashell" product after reading https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved/Bug_Reporting

If you would like to get involved in KDE's bug triaging effort so that future mass bug closes like this are less likely, please read https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved#Bug_Triaging

Thanks for your understanding!

Nate Graham
