Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.8.0) OS: Linux I am trying to replay gnome with your product and have found that kde does not play well with multi displays. Every time i reboot I lose my setting. This has been going on for a very long time with your product. Sad for such a sexy user interface. This seems to be a very basic requirement for a modern computer Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: Start KDE setup displays save defaults reboot the computer Actual Results: The display setting go back to defaults and I have to set everything up again Expected Results: Should remember my settings
Created attachment 68988 [details] krandrrc for my configuration
Also experiencing this. I tried the resolutions suggested in bug 183143 (https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=183143) to no avail. To be more precise, settings *are* saved (in ~/kde/shared/config/krandrrc), but are not applied on login. My system is a newly upgraded and completely updated KDE Fedora 16. I can't speak to the bug being in earlier versions, as I just recently got a second display. KDE version is 4.7.4, machine is Dell Latitude D630 laptop with docking station and Dell E2011H connected to DVI port in docking station. Driver is 2.1 Mesa 7.11.2, with i915 kernel module on a Mobile GM965/GL960 Integrated graphics controller. Each time I logout and in again the displays come up as clones. krandrrc is attached. Please let me know how else I can help. BTW this appears to be the same bug as 289730 (https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=289730)
Unfortunately, KDE has no developer to maintain the KRandR code. More help is needed to find and understand the code that should correctly save and restore the multi-monitor configuration.
Hello, Have you noticed the "Save a default" button underneath the "identify the screens" button? (labels may differer because i don't have englisch as default) Does it work if you save the values this way? I had the same problem until i noticed this (new?) button. Sincerely Markus
