Description Christopher Yeleighton 2011-11-02 09:12:24 UTC
Version: 1.6.1 (using KDE 4.6.4)
OS: Linux

When you have a lot of small files in the trash can occupying a lot of room, it may take some time for Dolphin to dispose of them. Dolphin shows a progress notification. Let this notification show the process of the disposal.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
  1.
Configure the trash can to clean up excessive trash automatically.

  2.
Delete a large directory containing lots of small files, such as kdesvn build (over 3 GB), to the trash can.

  3. Delete several large files (over 3 GB) to the trash can.

Actual Results:
  1.
The directory is in the trash.

  2.
A progress notification stalled for 10 min.

  3.
The progress notification disappears, kdesvn is gone, the large files are in the trash can.

Expected Results:
  2. Let the progress notification advance until full completion.

OS: Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.37.6-0.7-desktop
Compiler: gcc

I suppose this enhancement could be considered impractical, as enumerating all the files in order to display a progress notification could require a substantial overhead. If this is the case, let a notification appear that explains what is going on, such as ‘Dolphin is disposing of trash, it may take a while, please wait.’

Is this still relevant or applicable with KDE Frameworks 5.45? Are you saying that the progress bar doesn't work?
