Description Goran Brannstrom 2011-10-09 16:56:18 UTC
Version: Comes with KDE (using KDE 4.7.1)
OS: Linux

When you start Kolourpaint by clicking a file in Dolphin e.g., edit it, and then try to save it, Kolourpaint suggests to save it in whatever directory you last saved something in. Not the directory of the file you are editing. Extremely irritating behaviour in my view.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Save something in Kolurpaint in one directory. Then go to another directory with a jpg file in it. Edit the jpg file by right-clicking on it in Dolphin and choose open... and select Kolourpaint as the program to use. Or if you have already specified that a file of type jpg should always be opened by Kolourpaint you can just left-click it. Edit file and then choose to save it.

Actual Results:
Kolourpaint will suggest to save it in the previously directory that you saved something in.

Expected Results:
Kolourpaint should, obviously suggest to save the editied file in the same directory that the file is currently in. No?

What is the difference to bug 279219 you reported?
Comment 2 Goran Brannstrom 2011-10-09 22:41:22 UTC
Glad you asked. :-)

I can see why you would ask that... and here's why:

1. The bug is marked "resolved" if though it is not so in the version I hace
access to. So I report it again.
(And also because I could not see it under "My bugs" anymore. Couldn't
find it. )

2. In the report referred to I stated that the program saves the file under
the home directory, which, is slighly misleading. The save dialog opens in
the directory where the user last saved a picture.

So I'm wondering....
- Am I the only one that find this behaviour weird?
- Am I the only user?
- Or am I weird to wanna save a file in the same directory unless I tell it
otherwise? :-)

It would be an absolute gem if it worked properly.

Greatful for your efforts, and hopeful for improvements..... :-)

/Göran

It is resolved as a duplicate, and this one is still open.
