Description Florian Hubold 2011-08-23 08:25:00 UTC
Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.6.5)
OS: Linux

Since switching to KDE 4 series, this is quite a nuisance and a regression, this is what happens:

You want to open a file, the input field for the filename has the focus, and you can enter the first letters, and get auto-completion and easy searching. But when you change a folder, the input field looses focus and the file list get's focus, so you need to do an additional click to give the focus back to the filename input field, so you can search again.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
open file dialog, enter some letters, note behavior (autocompletion of filenames, easy search on files with the same basename)
then switch to another folder, repeat, see the change in behavior (jumps to file which begins with the letter you presses

Expected Results:
after changing folder, original behavior of the file dialog should be kept, this was what kate did back in KDE 3.5 series
