Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.7.0) OS: Linux Ark 2.17 is not part of KDE 4.7, at least not in the openSUSE distribution. No hint is given on how to obtain it. If we navigate from www.kde.org to http://www.kde.org/download/ and then to http://www.kde.org/info/4.7.0.php we read at the bottom of that page: openSUSE packages are available for openSUSE 11.4 (one-click install), for openSUSE 11.3 (one-click install), and openSUSE Factory (one-click install). I installed for 11.4 and Ark remained at 2.16. No hint is given on the website, as to how to obtain Ark 2.17, neither here http://www.kde.org/applications/utilities/ark/ nor here: http://utils.kde.org/projects/ark/ I would like to try 2.17 since it supposedly fixes bug 280176. I'm new to Linux, so surely I make beginners' mistakes. However, I think, reading the documentation on the website should give me a clue on how to proceed. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: try to find info on how to obtain Ark 2.17 Expected Results: There should be some info there somewhere.
First of all this would be an openSUSE bug, second of all, ark 2.17 is available from KDE:Release:47 and KDE:Distro:Factory repositories.
Great. You are right, it's not well packaged for openSUSE. May I suggest you give a little hint on your website how to go about getting it in such a case. From your reply I was able to look at the repositories configured for my installation and found: http://ftp5.gwdg.de/pub/opensuse/repositories/KDE:/Release:/47/openSUSE_11.4/ and http://ftp5.gwdg.de/pub/opensuse/repositories/KDE:/Release:/47/openSUSE_11.4/i586/. In there I found Ark 4.7 (2.7) downloaded it and installed it. Once again: I believe you could improve you website a little to tell people how to go looking for things. After all, this http://www.kde.org/info/4.7.0.php is you page and you could say something like: === openSUSE packages are available for openSUSE 11.4 (one-click install), for openSUSE 11.3 (one-click install), and openSUSE Factory (one-click install). **For additional components look here <link to the repository>.** === One sentence that could avoid searching.
I will let the relavant people know, thanks!
