Description Ramon Casellas 2011-08-03 09:51:04 UTC
Version: unspecified
OS: Linux

I'm getting systematically an Authentication error.

Ubuntu Oneiric 64 bit with KDE 4.7 Muon 1.1.90

Note that policykit-kde was not installed (dependency bug?) so I installed manually. Still it fails.

I'm able to "Check for updates" and I get a list of Upgradeable packages. Yet, clicking on the Install Updates triggers the message box.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
log into KDE session, see the notification icon about upgrades, click on it, check for updates, click on install updates, get the errir

Actual Results:
I'm able to "Check for updates" and I get a list of Upgradeable packages. Yet, clicking on the Install Updates triggers the message box.

Expected Results:
I would expect a kdesu or some dialog (policykit?) to prompt for password if needed and the packages to be downloaded / installed

OS: Linux (x86_64) release 3.0.0-7-generic
Compiler: gcc

Hi everybody, I just merged all the "Muon doesn't ask for password" issues into this one bug.
I've investigated the problem quickly and it seems kubuntu-desktop package didn't depend on polkit-kde-1 so it wasn't probably a bug in the agent but in packaging.

Setting needinfo for:
Does this problem happen to you when you have polkit-kde-1 installed and the agent (usually the polkit-kde-authentication-agent-1 process) running?
If so, please provide more information on your OS's release and polkit, polkit-qt, polkit-kde and muon versions.
Thank you.

Hi,
I can't comment on that, I am running raring (updated as of today) with polkit kde, agentm backend... and things are working ok. Quite an old bug, I had forgotten about it sorry.
