Can't reproduce, sorry.
This is a packaging problem in Ubuntu, so it's safe to close here. (The problem is that an older version of kate can't use the newer kate-text-editor module --> kate needs to be repackaged. Reason for this issue is that kate has been moved to an own tarball) Thanks for your answer!
