(*** This bug was imported into bugs.kde.org ***) Package: kcontrol Version: KDE 2.1.1 Severity: wishlist Installed from: Mandrake RPMs Compiler: Not Specified OS: Linux OS/Compiler notes: Mandrake 8 Release I have two video cards with two monitors working with X and KDE with Xinerama turned off (independant screens)... works great in general except I need to get a screensaver working with the secondary monitor since it is an older monitor. Screensavers are only working on the primary and it would be cool if I could have a seperate screensaver configuration for the secondary monitor (eg. one kind of screens saver on primary and different on secondary)... but I will settle with just having a singe screensaver config work on both. The main problem is if I have screen saving turned off the automatic blanking screws up the signal to the secondary monitor sometimes and it slips out of the monitors capabilities creating a unstable visual (it does manage to blank sometimes but its not a high ratio).... just hope it never does any real damage... thanks Shawn Potter (Submitted via bugs.kde.org)
How is this with KDE 3.1.0 or CVS_HEAD?
With KDE 3.1-11 (RH9), I get the screensaver centered right in the middle between the two screens. So, while I'd say "fixed," it would be nice to have the option of picking which screen you want the screensave to display on.
*** Bug 45286 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. ***
I'm using kdebase 3.3.2, release 1.5.3.kde with Fedora Core 3 on my thinkpad. When the thinkpad is connected to a second monitor, I have screensaver issues. 1) Slideshow shows my pictures 'centered' in the middle of the virtual desktop. That is, it shows the left half of the picture on one monitor and the right half of the picture on another monitor. Since the monitors are of different sizes, it looks lame. More KDE applications seem to try this: vncviewer, for instance, will 'center' itself in the middle between my two displays. The way to fix this could be to allow a setting maybe 'biggest' display, leftmost display, display 1, display 2, or something along those lines. There are many ways this could be handled. I think my preferred solution would allow me to set screensavers seperately for each display. 2) None of the OpenGL screensavers display anything on the second display, and they show only half of the display on the main display. I think most of these could be fixed if the advanced options allowed one to restrict a screensaver to a specific display. FWIW, I'm using xorg-x11-libs-6.8.1-12.FC3.21 with xinerama on.
kde-base/kdebase-meta-3.5.2 x11-base/xorg-x11-7.0-r1 radeon 2 screens, same resolution, no xinerama If I test screensaver on first it works on first, if I test on second it works also on second. But if screensaver starts automatically it is only displayed on second. I'm not using OpenGL saver but a simple "asciiquarium".
I don't have a problem with this anymore. Can we close this?
