This bothers me for a long time in KDE4 series: when I change some system configuration option (mimetype assignment, web engine in konqueror), the Updating system configuration dialog never disappears. It goes over and over, restarting from 0%. If I cancel it in the file associations, the changes I made are remember.
Manual run of kbuildsycoca4 of course is not looping.
