Description Ritesh Raj Sarraf 2011-05-27 20:07:25 UTC
Version:           0.2 (using KDE 4.6.3)
OS:                Linux

When the "fall apart" animation is selected in kwin, if I click on a drop down menu (I'm not sure what it is called. Pull down or Drop down. This is not the File menu. Something like on the bug report page, where we select the KDE Version), upon selection of the item from that menu, the "fall apart" animation is applied on it.

This is not the right place for the "fall apart" animation. The fall apart animation should only be used when "CTRL + Q" or Close or Terminate signal is sent to the application

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
* Apply fall apart animation
* Try to select an item from the drop/pull down menu.

Actual Results:
menu falls apart and it does not look good

Expected Results:
menu should not have "fall apart animation applied on it.

OS: Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.39-1-amd64
Compiler: gcc

are you sure you are using KWin? If yes KWin applies the Fall Apart animation on all windows. The Drop Down Menu is technically a window, so it is correct to have the animation there.

I guess I am. I make a change in the animation tab in system settings, and it reflects. So it should be kwin only.

It might technically be a window, but it looks unneeded to have a fall apart animation everytime you click an item in a pull/drop down menu. Consider a webpage with many of such pull/drop menus. It will be too distracting. But it definitely fits for the window close effect.
