Description Joe Taylor 2011-04-01 03:22:46 UTC
Version: 4.6 (using KDE 4.6.1)
OS: Linux

Every time I launch Desktop cube on 4.6.1, be it Pardus, Kubuntu, Mint 10 KDE or OpenSuse, my desktop freezes up and the computer crashes. I'm not sure it is an Nvidia driver problem or a problem with the KDE desktop itself. I'm running the latest proprietary Drivers from Nvidia. There are no problems with this on KDE 4.5.5

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Hit Ctrl+f11, bring up the desktop cube and as soon as you pick a desktop to use, the computer freezes up and then crashes.

Actual Results:
Screen freeze and computer crashes.

Expected Results:
A forced restart because KDE 4.6.1 SUCKS.

Please fix this problem, it's happening on a GTX 260

If KWin crashes, please attach the backtrace of the crash. For more information, see http://techbase.kde.org/Development/Tutorials/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports

If the X server crashes (i.e. if you are taken back to the login screen), then it is likely a crash from the video drivers.
Comment 2 Joe Taylor 2011-04-01 05:13:45 UTC
I've switched back to KDE 4.5.5 and cant provide backtrace info. Also it didn't take me to the login screen, it just locked up my computer and everything froze and a message came up saying that the KDE desktop was running slow, then my computer crashed. It happened every time I tried to switch desktops. It's a major no go for me and I wont use KDE 4.6.1 until it is fixed. I'm sure I'm not the only one that is having the problem.
