When painting, little bits of the brush outline cursor are not cleared away. Also, the brush outline sometimes is way too big in hover mode.

Can't reproduce here. Which brush setting did you use?

hi, I kept having problem here sometime with specific brushes.
Here, in my test ( first attachement ^ ), I've got a 1440x900px scene with a (big?) airbrush on a layer, without openGL. This brush kept leaving trace on the canvas. I also attached the airbrush preset.
