The issue is in the ItemEditor::eventFilter() of folderview/itemeditor.cpp. On receiving a QEvent::FocusOut, it will "emit closeEditor", which causes the editor widget (including its popup menu) to be destroyed.

When removing the handling of that event, the popup menu correctly shows. Working around this bug in kdelibs by using a QWeakPointer for the popup menu avoids the crash, but the menu still does not show, of course.

Therefore, it needs to be fixed in folderview.

i was cut-and-pastin  the end 6 numbers  of  the folder name so that I could paste it to the front of the name of the folder.
- Unusual behavior I noticed:
after clicking on "copy" after selecting the text, the crash report comes up.

therte are 4 folder in the desktop folder, a link to an appliction, and a empty link to application.

With kde4.8 I can't anymore reproduce it. Don't know if the patch is apply or not on openSUSE KR48 rpm build
